After learning yesterday that FC Nantes will be their opponents in the first knockout round of the UEFA Youth League, on Wednesday our under-19s discovered who they will face next in the Copa del Rey Juvenil. The Cantera side were the first of the 32 remaining teams to confirm their stop in the next round on their way to topping Group 4. Their opponents will be Real Madrid, who have not had an easy start, finishing fourth in Group 5.

The draw included the top four from each of the seven groups, plus the four best fifth-placed teams. The Round of 32 will see us host the single-leg tie at the Estadio Jesús Navas on the weekend of 6th or 7th January. The draw was also made for the Round of 16, Quarter Finals and Semi Finals, meaning that if we beat the Madrid side, we will face the winner of the RCD Espanyol-SD Compostela tie in the last 16.

Our opponents are the second most successful side in the history of the competition having won it 15 times - three fewer than FC Barcelona - while Sevilla FC are in fourth place with five wins. The last time the Canteras lifted the trophy in 2014, they faced Real Madrid in the final, defeating them in a penalty shoot-out at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas. Both teams are currently competing in the UEFA Youth League, although Real Madrid have already qualified directly for the last 16 after finishing top of their group.
