SEVILLA FC: AN EXAMPLE IN ECONOMIC AND SPORTING MANAGEMENT AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL

Sevilla FC have grown exponentially in recent years and this has been an object of both praise and analysis. Diario El Mundo, days away from the UEFA Super Cup final against Bayern Munich in Budapest, did a report on the exemplary management within the Club, interviewing President José Castro and the two Sporting Directors, José María Cruz and Ramón Rodríguez, better known as Monchi. 

The current Director of Football's running of the club has been an object of much analysis. Monchi describes: 'Roberto Alés knew what he was doing. He made Sevilla fans aware the club needed a wartime economy. He made them realise that although Sevilla FC was a big club, we were in financial ruin.' The directors also spoke about the 'buy low to sell high' policy that began with José Antonio Reyes, describing it as an 'art'.

Cruz: 'Sevilla is the only team whose Director of Football also belongs to the Board'

Cruz praised Monchi, saying 'as far as I'm aware, Sevilla FC is the only team whose Director of Football also belongs to the Board, meaning he has a view of the general situation within the Club.' He spoke about fine-tuning the revolutionary policy of player sales, also mentioning 'Big Data', amongst other factors. Sevilla FC has always sought to become more professional in all areas.

José Castro underlined 'this Sevilla FC is down to its passionate employees, our loving fans,' emphasising the growth of the Club in all areas, with the Department of Communications as an example: 'In three years we went from having one employee to over 30 in the Department of Communications, not even counting those in Radio and Television. We want to have direct contact with our fans.'
