The draw for the round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League has drawn Sevilla FC against Lazio, who will be the sixth Italian side Sevilla will face in Europe, after Parma, Sampdoria, Milan, Fiorentina and Juventus. The current record against Italian sides, from a total of ten matches, is unfavourable for Sevilla, with five defeats, two draws and just three wins.

Both Parma and Sampdoria eliminated Sevilla from the UEFA Europa League in the 2004/2005 and 2008/2009 seasons respectively. The former in the round of 16 (0-0 and 1-0) and the later in the group stages (1-0). Milan defeated Sevilla 3-1 in the European Supercup held in Monaco in 2007. However, in the 2014/2015 season, they managed to defeat Fiorentina in both legs of the semi-finals of the Europa League (3-0 and 0-2) en route to lifting the title against Dnipro in Warsaw. In their encounters against Juventus, twice in the group stages of the Champions League in the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons, Sevilla came away with one win, a draw and two defeats.
