Sevilla FC will host FC Krasnodar at the Ramón Sánchez-Pzjuán on Thursday evening in the final group stage match of the UEFA Europa League. The Russian side will be the sixth team from the country to visit Sevilla's stadium in the club's history. After Torpedo Moscow in the 90/91 season, Lokomotiv Moscow, Zenit Saint Petersburg on two occasions, CSKA and Spartak Moscow have come to visit in the 21st century, with Krasnodar now joining this list of Russian teams to play at Sevilla's home.

Sevilla FC have a healthy record from these encounters with Russian opponents at their home ground. Only CSKA Moscow, possibly one of the most painful European defeats, have managed to get the win in Seville, which eliminated Sevilla from the round of 16 of the Champions League in the 09/10 season. The rest were all wins, bringing the total record to 5-1, with the last being a 2-1 win against Spartak Moscow last season. Against Zenit, the team won 4-1 and 2-1 in the 05/06season and the 14/15 season respectively. The team also defeated Lokomotiv Moscow in February of 2006 and in the 90/91 season Torpedo Moscow were defeated 2-1.

The only defeat against Russian opponents, the aforementioned match against CSKA, was the second defeat Sevilla had ever suffered in Nervión in all their European encounters. The only other defeat until that day, after 29 European matches played at the Sánchez-Pizjuán, had been against Louis Van Gaal's AZ Alkmaar in the 06/07 season by two goals to one, a season in which Sevilla went on to lift their second Europa League title in Glasgow.
