Sevilla FC returned from the Alfredo Di Stéfano Stadium with the impression, as the players confirmed after the match, that it was two points lost in Madrid after conceding an equaliser at the death. The draw puts the Blanquirrojos onto 71 points with three matches to go, but it left the team with a sour taste in their mouth after going in front twice and watching, after thirteen straight defeats at the Santiago Bernabéu, as a deflection robbed them of the win.

For twelve seasons, since 08/09, Sevilla FC had not came away from Real Madrid with so much as a point. That puts value on what Julen Lopetegui's team achieved last night. A draw that came as a disappointment with how it came about, but proves the great work the Nervionenses are doing in this long and complicated 20/21 league season. Real Madrid, who would have went top with a win, moved closer to Atlético with a deflection from a shot that was going wide.

Sevilla FC now go into the final three matches of the season. They welcome Valencia CF this Wednesday to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, visit Villarreal CF on Sunday before ending the season in Seville against Deportivo Alavés a week later. There are still nine points up for grabs as the team look to return to winning ways on Wednesday to try and beat their record points tally in a La Liga season: the 76 points set in 14/15 under Unai Emery.
