129 years have passed since the city's oldest club embarked upon a beautiful story. Sevilla celebrate this 25 January yet another anniversary, a history spanning three centuries. A lot has changed within the city and the club since then, but if something remains the same it's the sentiment of Sevillistas which now spans worldwide. On Saturday 25 January a marvellous and passionate project was put into motion and this Friday 25 January 2019 it is now one of the most important clubs in the country. The club celebrates this anniversary while fighting for the top spots in the league, to continue in 'their' competition, the Europa League, and to fight, as is now customary, for the Copa del Rey semi-finals.

Sevilla FC came to life at the end of the 19th century during a meeting in which the forefathers' of the city's new sport decided to play 'according to the Federation's rules.' The next step was to officially constitute the club and choose its directors, with Edward F. Johnston as the first president. Hugo Maccoll was named captain and coached the squad to play a sport in its infancy. Isaías White became secretary and shortly after would send the invitation for the first match between two Spanish clubs to take place, Sevilla Football Club and Huelva Recreation Club

From the first Copa de Andalucía in 1916/17 to the latest UEFA Europa League won in Basel a century after, Sevilla FC has had a history marked with glorious moments; not only in terms of trophies, but also in terms of the legends to have adorned its shirt or the historic matches that have taken place in the stadium. The club has also naturally undergone hard times, but it has always been able to overcome them and come out stronger. Sevilla's current situation is one of the finest in their history, but nothing that is being accomplished today could have happened without the foundations left down the decades

There have been many glorious moments in Sevilla FC's history, not just in terms of titles, and the club has always managed to overcome any problems and come out even stronger

A total of 31 trophies so far, leading the way in Andalusia, divided between regional, national and international competitions. Sevilla have appeared in almost every season at the highest division, 75 in total, being in sixth place in the table over the league's entire history. The foundations are well in place to keep fighting at the highest level, something that the club works tirelessly on both on and off the pitch. The club is in a strong economic situation which allows it to compete at the top and has a successful academy which has brought the latest generation into both Sevilla FC and the Spanish national team's sides.

This 25 January is a day to celebrate for all Sevillistas. The anniversary of a dream which not only remains alive, but which grows every day and shows no signs of stopping. 129 years of history and pride for generations of Sevillistas who will continue to inherit the glorious heritage of over a century's work.
