With the Champions League Final out of the way for another year, club football can officially be said to be closed for the 2017/18 season. Now with only the World Cup and Europa League qualifications close on the horizon, UEFA have been able to put together their coefficient rankings for another year. Though, as with any rankings, some room must be made for interpretation, Sevilla FC finally finished in sixth place. With 113,000 points, Sevilla placed once again as the fourth best club in Spain in the table that takes several seasons into account in its calculation.

More specifically, 22,000 points were picked up in 13/14 (a Europa League winning year), 28,000 points in 14/15  (another Europa League winning year), 23,000 points in 15/16 (another Europa League winning year), 19,000 picked up in 16/17 (after a Champions League qualification) and 21,000 points were won this recently finished season. Just Real Madrid (162,000 points), Atlético Madrid (140,000 points), Bayern Munich (132,000 points), FC Barcelona (132,000 points) and Juventus (126,000 points) rank ahead of Sevilla.

The Nervionenses picked up 21,000 points for the recently finished season

Translating those statistics to a footballing level, UEFA advance that the Nervionenses are the fourth best club in Spain. Trailing in Sevilla's wake are Villarreal in 32nd place (52,000), Athletic Club in 34th place (46,000), Valencia in 41st (36,000), Real Sociedad in 70th (15,500), Celta Vigo in 71st (19,000) and Real Betis in 72nd (12,000).

Looking ahead to next season, Sevilla will no longer be able to count on the 22,000 points won from their 2014 Europa League win in Turin.
