Two similar seasons, with the side reaching the UCL via league position and winning the UEL

Most of Sevilla FC's titles have come with fairly satisfactory league finishes, always giving them the chance to play in continental competition every time they have managed to lift a trophy. But if there is one thing that stands out in seven seasons of glory for the Blanquirrojos, it is the similarity between the team that won that second UEFA Cup and the one that lifted the sixth a week ago.

In the 2006/07 seasonJuande Ramos's team finished third with 71 points, with 21 wins, 8 draws and 9 defeats, scoring 64 times and conceding on 35 occasions. The side secured a place in the Champions League with that league record, and would go on to win the UEFA Cup in Glasgow and the Copa del Rey with a win over Getafe CF at the Santiago Bernabéu, rounding off a long, intense season.

Compared to 06/07, Lopetegui's Sevilla picked up one less point and conceded one less goal

Last season was equally tough, even excluding the pandemic and the lockdown, which officially finished in the best possible way. Julen Lopetegui's side achieved their aim of Champions League qualification, securing fourth with two games to spare and narrowly missed out on a third placed finish, as Atlético had a better goal difference than the Nervionenses.

19 wins, 13 draws and just 6 defeats was the league record in this long season for the six-time Europa League winners, scoring 54 times and conceding 34 goals. So, it is clear that this Sevilla FC has managed to fall to defeat less often and concede less goalssomething which perfectly defines the defensive strength of the team

Thus, it is commendable to highlight the performance of the club over the years to maintain that winning gene that, while the trophy cabinet at the Sanchez-Pizjuan continued to have silverware added to it, allowed the side to repeat a feat that fits perfectly with its hunger and ambition. The sporting management team are already working to give the manager reasons to help the side to continue to grow, as they look to begin next season with another European success.
