Sevilla FC have only failed to make it to a final once in the 21st century when playing a semi-final second-leg at home

This Wednesday Sevilla FC will play in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán with a ticket to what would be the Club's fourth Final of the Copa del Rey in the 21st Century, and its 17th since Eindhoven in 2006 on the line. We come into the game off a 1-1 draw in the first-leg but with the huge advantage of counting on an electric Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, which in years past has proven close to insurmountable in semi-finals.

In only the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey in the 03/04 season did Sevilla fail to make a final playing the second-leg at home. Clashes against Schalke in 05/06, Osasuna in 06/07 (UEFA Cup), Deportivo in 06/07 (in the Copa del Rey) and Shakhtar Donetsk in 15/16 all meant finals after playing in Nervión.

In the Cup, the last four semi-finals Sevilla FC have played have come away from home, two producing positive results - against Getafe in 2010 and against Celta in 2016 - and two resulting in defeats - against Athletic Club in 2009 and Real Madrid in 2011.

There have not been many occasions where Sevilla have failed to take advantage of the Sánchez-Pizjuán factor. This Wednesday Sevilla will once again have the home-advantage on their side in their bid to put themselves in another final and continue making history.
