José Ángel Carmona is the man of the moment at Sevilla FC. Beginning to feature more this season, the young defender showed exactly why against Espanyol as he scored two goals and gave an assist as we picked up our first win of the season.

It took only 45 seconds for him to contribute to the first goal, as he threaded through Erik Lamela who duly finished to put the team into the lead.

Not content with just setting up goals, the right-back would take it upon himself to score them. He scored his first from a corner, before adding another before the end of the first half and putting the team 3-0 up.

With his double, José Ángel becomes the second youngest Sevilla player this century to score two goals in the same game. He is only beaten by the incredible José Antonio Reyes, who scored a brace against Athletic Club at only 18 years old in 2001.

Carmona also made history as he became the first player since 2010 to play a direct hand in three goals in their first La Liga start.

Two goals and one assist in his first ever start in La Liga

José Ángel, who renewed his contract until 2025, can play all over the backline. Yesterday he shone as a right-back, but against Manchester City he was formidable at centre-back.

Despite the signings of Marcão and Nianzou, and with Rekik remaning, Lopetegui has still found a spot for the youngster, who made his debut in last season's 1-1 draw with Rayo Vallecano.

Carmona won't be forgetting his performance any time soon, calling it a "boyhood dream." We can only hope to see more decisive displays from the youngster throughout the season.
