Cuerpo Superior

At 12:30 on Sunday, Sevilla FC will find out their opponents in the first round of the Copa del Rey. 111 sides are in the draw, so there is a large range of sides that Sevilla could face. There is a new format for this season, so this round will be played with one leg instead of two, taking place between Tuesday 17th and Thursday 19th December. Sevilla FC will play away from home.

All sides enter the competition at this round, apart from the 4 sides in the Spanish Super Cup. The ten winners from the preliminary round (Pot 1) will be drawn against 10 of the 16 LaLiga sides who enter at this stage, including Sevilla (Pot 2). Of these ten sides, there is one side from the regional league system (tier 5), Melilla CD, eight sides who were promoted to the Tercera (tier 4), and FC Andorra, who took Reus' place in Segunda B (tier 3).

The six LaLiga clubs who are not drawn at this stage are moved to Pot 4, alongside the 22 second-tier sides. 25 of these sides will be drawn to face those in Pot 3, which consists of 21 Tercera sides who did not achieve promotion, and four Segunda B sides who reached the semi-finals of the Copa Federación. The three remaining sides in Pot 4, which could well include Sevilla, will then face sides from Pot 5, which consists of 38 Segunda B sides who qualified due to their league position last season.

The 35 remaining sides in Segunda B will face each other, with the one remaining side receiving a bye to the second round. Therefore, there are 73 sides who could face Sevilla: 43 sides in Segunda B (3), 29 sides in Tercera (4), and Melilla (5). Our potential opponents are as follows:
