Sevilla FC have reached an agreement with AFC Ajax which will see Lucas Ocampos join the reigning Eredivisie champions on a season-long loan.

The Argentine heads to Amsterdam after three seasons in Nervión, in which he won the UEFA Europa League back in the 2019/20 season, his first season in Spanish football after he made the move from Olympique de Marseille.

Ocampos has 135 appearances for the club, with his most recent one coming against UD Almería last Saturday. 100 came in LaLiga Santander, thirteen in the UEFA Champions League, eleven in the Copa del Rey, ten in the UEFA Europa League and one in the UEFA Super Cup.

He has scored 34 times for the club, with 25 of those goals coming in LaLiga Santander. He added five in the Copa del Rey, two in the UEFA Europa League, including a late winner against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 2020 quarter-final, and the opening goal from the spot in the UEFA Super Cup match against Bayern.

Just three months after joining the club, Lucas was capped for the first time by Argentina, and he even scored on his debut, which was a friendly against Germany in Dortmund in October 2019. He has gone on to make a further ten appearances for La Albiceleste, and has scored on another two occasions.

Sevilla FC wish Lucas the very best of luck for the next stage of his career.
