Youssef En-Nesyiri, Yassine Bono and Toni Payne, the latter in the women's category, have been nominated as candidates for the African Football Federation (CAF) 'player of the year' award.

At the ceremony, the CAF will announce the winners of the 2023 awards, including the prizes given to the best African footballer of the year (African Ballon d'Or), best African Champions League player, best young player, best international side, best coach, best club and goal of the year. Furthermore, Bono, our ex-goalkeeper and now playing in Saudi Arabia, makes the list for best stopper, partially thanks to his remarkable performances in the final stages of his Sevilla career where he played alongside En-Nesyri who continues to go from strength to strength at the club.

Huge credit also goes to Toni Payne, the Sevilla Women's forward, who is joined by six of her Nigeria teammates in the list for best player. The awards ceremony will be held on Monday December 11th in Marrakech.
