One of the players who smiled brightly at Sevilla FC's season finale, which culminated with them winning the sixth UEFA Europa League in Cologne, was the Dutchman Luuk de Jongwho played a vital role, with his three goals in the final two matches to secure the trophy. The striker followed in the footsteps of Carlos Bacca, Coke and Maresca by scoring a brace in the Europa League final against Inter.

The forward, who was named as a substitute for the Round of 16 match against AS Roma, the quarter final against Wolverhampton Wanderers and the semi final against Manchester United, saved his best moments for the very end, coming off the bench to score the winner against the Mancunians. He would then start against Inter, where he scored two first-half headers in the 3-2 win. His qualities have been very much on display since his arrival in Andalusia.

The Dutchman scored a brace in the UEFA Europa League final, just like Maresca, Bacca and Coke

Luuk de Jong finished his first season in Nervión with ten goals and four assists, with most of them proving crucial. Alongside his crucial European goals, the man from the Netherlands also helped Julen Lopetegui's side to extra points in the league with his goals

His first goal was a late winner against Levante UD in Matchday 9, which he scored after coming off the bench. Three weeks later, he scored the winner in the Gran Derbi in Heliópolis, rounding off a stellar performance with a left-footed finish to secure a 2-1 win against the old enemy. He also turned in a quality performance at the Santiago Bernabéu, scoring a stunning equaliser after he had a first-half effort chalked off. He also scored the opener on another trip to the capital, this time against Atlético de Madrid, helping the side to secure a crucial point in a 2-2 draw

The Dutchman won points for the team against Levante, Real Betis and Atlético de Madrid

It is also worth pointing out that his equaliser in the UEFA Europa League final against Inter, where he met a Jesús Navas cross with a diving header, saw more passes in the build-up than any Sevilla FC goal in this competition since 2005/06, the year that the Nervionenses won the competition for the first time.

The striker also added to his ten goals with four assists, meaning he participated in fourteen goals in his debut season in Nervión. Of course, his stunning end to the season will serve as a massive boost for the Dutchman ahead of his second season at the club.
