LOPETEGUI: 'THE GOAL TODAY WAS TO BEAT A TEAM THAT I THINK WILL BE IN LA LIGA NEXT YEAR'

'We beat a really good team today and restricted them to barely any chances'

Julen Lopetegui, Sevilla FC's coach, was satisfied at the end of the game in Almería where his team booked their ticket to the 20/21 Copa del Rey semi finals: 'I'm pleased with the win against a tough team in Almería. I think we deserved the win today. When you only score one goal you always have to fight at the end of the game but I think we played well.'

'We had five or six big chances and, other than a shot in the first half, I don't remember them having any. The team always go for the opposition's goal while taking care of our own. Sometimes we manage it and sometimes we don't. The goal today was to beat a team who, without any doubt, will be in La Liga next year,' Lopetegui continued.

Lopetegui spoke about Papu Gómez who made his debut in Sevilla's colours: 'I think he played well. It wasn't easy for him after not playing for a month and a half and I feel he showed a good level.'

Finishing off, Lopetegui stated the team was now focusing on the weekend's game in La Liga: 'We're now focused on the next objective which is Getafe. We need to recover well as we're in a bad run with injuries at the moment and our players are feeling the effects of so many games. Getafe have had a week's rest and preparation to make sure we don't get what we want. We need to prepare and recover well and focus on the next game. There's no other way.'
