Erik Lamela accompanied Jorge Sampaoli in the press room at the City of Manchester Stadium, a ground where he played many times with Tottenham: "I had the experience of playing here a good few times, it's a nice place to play football." Despite the tough task ahead, he commented that the game "will be approached like any other, as an opportunity to tweak the things we are failing at and strengthen what we are doing well. It will be a good test against a great team, to compete and try to do things the right way."

He touched upon the mentality in the dressing room: "Nobody in the dressing room is happy with this situation, nobody likes to be on a run of poor form, but we're a great group and we're working hard to turn this situation around. It's understandable that the fans aren't happy either, we understand them completely, but we are working very hard every day so that, in the near future, we will have something worth celebrating."

And despite nothing being at stake, it's an important match: "Who hasn't dreamt of playing in the Champions League? Tomorrow it's still a Champions League match, even if nothing's at stake. We came here to do our job and it's a great opportunity to show that we can compete against these teams."
