Sevilla FC's Argentinian contingent were the last to complete their international duty in the small hours of Wedenesday morning. The reigning world champions were too good for Peru in Lima as a Lionel Messi brace secured a 2-0 win. Sevilla FC left-back Marcos Acuña took part, replacing Nicolás Tagliafico as one of manager Lionel Scaloni's late changes on 78 minutes.

Meanwhile, Lucas Ocampos watched from the bench at the Estadio Nacional de Lima. With Brazil losing in Uruguay, victory for Argentina strengthened their position as group leaders in CONMEBOL qualification for the 2026 World Cup, sitting on 12 points. Uruguay, Brazil and Venezuela are all five points behind on seven.
