Sevilla FC are on a spectacular run of wins that means they are still alive in all three competitions at this stage of the season. Yesterday's convincing win at Eibar means the Nervionenses have won ten of their last twelve away matches. The victory also brought up a fifth consecutive win in all competitions, after triumphs in the cup against Leganés and Valencia, and wins in the league against Alavés and Cádiz. Of course, it is very difficult to string together five victories at this level, and Sevilla FC's history is a testament to that, but, in recent years, this is becoming quite a regular occurence.

Since Julen Lopetegui arrived at the club just over 18 months ago, the team have won five matches on the bounce four times. This is the second run this season, after the five consecutive victories in November: twice against Krasnodar in the Champions League, and against Osasuna, Celta and Huesca in LaLiga. The manager also led the team to two further runs last season. Between 7th November and 1st December 2019, the team beat Dudelange, Betis, Valladolid, Qarabag and Leganés. They also rounded off the season with wins against Valencia, Roma, Wolves, Manchester United and Inter.

To put this is context, in the last five seasonsSevilla FC have won five matches on the spin on six occasions, with the other two spells coming in the 2016/17 season while Jorge Sampaoli was manager. Julen Lopetegui has also reached 50 wins quicker than any other manager in the club's history. He has 51 wins in 85 matchesneeding one match less than Juande Ramos and four less than Manolo Jiménez.
