Sevilla FC and Fernando Reges have reached an agreement for the termination of the midfielder's contract, which was due to expire in June 2024. The Brazilian had asked the club for his contract to be terminated due to personal reasons, allowing him to return to his home country.

After a prolific European career that began in 2007 when he signed for FC Porto, with a loan spell at Estrela Amadora, Fernando brings this happy stage of his career to a close with a considerable trophy haul. He picked up four Portuguese league titles, three Portuguese Cups, four Portuguese Super Cups and a UEFA Europa League during his time at Os Dragões, before adding a League Cup at Manchester City and two league titles and a cup with Galatasaray. It appeared that his career was approaching its end when he signed for the Turkish outfit in 2017, aged 30, but nothing could be further from the truth. He returned to one of the continent's top leagues in 2019 when he signed for the Club, and he still had a lot to offer.

He demonstrated his quality and his commitment in 167 appearances for Sevilla, and picked up UEFA Europa League winners' medals in 2020 and 2023. He also added six goals in LaLiga and one in the Copa del Rey, as well as ten assists. Specifically, he made 119 league appearances, 18 in the UEFA Champions League and another 18 in the UEFA Europa League, ten in the Copa del Rey as well as one in the UEFA Super Cup.

Sevilla FC wishes to thank Fernando for his performances and professionalism ever since he joined the club. His farewell will be announced in the coming days.
