As a global name, Sevilla FC commands a high level of expectation in certain corners of the world. However, interest in the club grew more than ever before last season given our extraordinary feats, showing the whole world what it truly means to never give upThe ability to pull off an extraordinary turnaround, from elimination to the Champions League, to winning our seventh Europa League title, simply proves that throwing in the towel prematurely is not allowed at this club. That is exactly the central theme of the documentary presented at the 11th annual 'Chefchaouen International Film Festival' in Morocco last weekend. The piece serves as the perfect tale of overcoming adversity for audiences of all ages in following the ups and downs of our 2022/23 campaign.

The event, in which Sevilla participated alongside LaLiga, aims to use cinema to promote values of respect and solidarity among the communities. In front of more than 4,000 people, the story begins on that fateful night on 2nd November 2022 when defeat to Manchester City sends the team into the Europa League and ends with those victorious scenes which saw Jesús Navas and Ivan Rakitic lift that trophy in Budapest on 31st May 2023. On that magic night, José Mendilibar and his coaching staff led the squad to victory when they beat AS Roma on penalties, in a match where Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bono was voted MVP. The former Sevilla stopper gives a first-person narrative throughout the film, also featuring contributions from fellow countryman, striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

These two players shone brighter than ever last season, adding their success with Sevilla to an unprecedented run with their national team to the World Cup semifinals in Qatar, cementing their status as Moroccan icons in the process. Bono and En-Nesyri's journey is a shining example of how to deal with the obstacles life throws at us, and highlight the rewards that await those with the strength to keep moving forward. “We are so grateful for the support shown to us by LaLiga and clubs like Sevilla who put on outside activities that have captivated young Moroccans, visiting tourists and the general public alike. Without doubt, this year's event will be unforgettable”, said the festival's organiser, Tarik Boubker.

In addition to this screening, the club participated in the 'Cine y Deporte' (Film and Sports) exhibition by displaying the shirts worn by Bono and En-Nesyria, as well as footballs, scarfs and other Sevilla merchandise, which all guests could stop and take photos with. The event, also organised in collaboration with LaLiga, was attended, among others, by local government officials, Spanish ambassadors, actors and actresses, as well as elite sport stars.
