In a statement given to www.sevillafc.es, Joaquín Caparrós expressed his wish to get back into the hotseat as to why he has taken this decision: "Sevilla FC is my home, but the dugout is my life. I recieved an offer from Ginés Meléndez, the current Technical Director of the Armenian Football Federation, and it awoke the fire within me to return to management. It wasn't an easy decision, I thought about it a lot, but I accepted it because of the love I have for what I do. When the offer came in, the club told me about it and the truth is that they haven't made life difficult at all. In fact, it has been the exact opposite, for which is why I'm very thankful".

José Castro spoke about the man himself: "Joaquín has shown what it is to be a Sevillista through and through. He didn't think twice about coming back to the club whenever it was struggling and in the last two seasons he has put us in Europe. Joaquín is the manager who has managed most games as Sevilla FC coach. He's a legend, and you have to respect that. We wish him all the luck in the world in this new stage of his career and of course, the doors to his home, Sevilla FC, will always be open for when he wishes to return. Joaquín is one of those people that can enter and leave the club as he wishes".

Caparrós rounds off his second stint at the Nervión outfit, after returning in April 2018 and taking up the hotseat after the sacking of Vincenzo Montella, by qualifying for the Europa League that campaign. Next, in the following season (2018/19), he became the new Director of Football, but again ended up taking charge of the first team towards the end of the season, and once again they qualified for the Europa League. Caparrós has taken charge of a total of 510 games in the First Divison (167 with Sevilla FC) and has also taken charge of more Sevilla FC matches in all competitions than any other manager. His record of 241 is followed by: Emery (205), Manolo Cardo (200). The only man to have won more games that Caparrós (111) is Ramón Encinas (116).

Caparrós will bid farewell to all Sevillistas today, in the SFC Radio studios.
