Jesús Galván's side suffered just their fourth defeat of the season at the Estadio Dama de Noche but stay five points clear at the top of the table

After five months and 19 games, Sevilla Atlético's unbeaten run has finally come to an end following a 2-0 defeat away at third-placed Marbella FC. It was a tale of two halves with the reserves having the better of the first 45; but a goal proved illusive. The home side struck twice in the second half to sink Jesús Galván's side. However, they stay top of the Segunda RFEF table and maintain a five-point cushion following Yeclano Deportivo's home defeat.

It was an even start at Marbella's Estadio Dama de Noche with both sides sitting towards the top of the table. The first chance of the matchday 31 fixture fell to Sevilla Atlético's Stanis Idumbo, but he could only find the side netting. Capi then had a go from the edge of the area following a great lay-off by Mateo Mejía, but his effort fell agonisingly the wrong side of the post. The reserves came closest to opening the scoring through Mejía, but the Colombian was denied by a combination of the Marbella goalkeeper and the woodwork. It remained goalless at half time despite the reserves' dominance.

However the same cannot be said of the second half. Former academy player Hugo Rodríguez struck an effort against the post for the home side before Dago broke the deadlock with a powerful strike into the top corner, leaving Alberto Flores with no chance. Marbella only grew in confidence and doubled their lead soon after. Olguin arrived at the back post to volley home from a corner and put daylight between the two sides.

Sevilla Atlético did not give up, however, with Mejía and Xavi Sintes both testing Lejárraga in the Marbella net. But the keeper saved well on both occasions, keeping the clean sheet intact and ensuring that it was the home side that claimed the three points. Despite the defeat, Jesús Galván's side stay five points clear at the top of the table and are well positioned to secure automatic promotion. The next match is away at Vélez CF, where the reserves will have the opportunity to clinch the league title if results go their way.
