Sevilla FC Women defeated Madrid CFF with a dominant performance at the Estadio Jesús Navas (4-2). Cristian Toro's team was superior for most of the match, even when they were reduced to ten players, with their opponent only scoring late on, which proved to be little more than a consolation goal.

In the first half, Sevilla FC started brilliantly. The first chance fell to Inma Gabarro, who finished expertly, leaving the opposition goalkeeper Paola Ulloa with no chance of keeping the ball out of the net. Very soon after, Amanda Sampedro played a beautifully weighted pass into Toni Payne, who made it 2-0 with only 15 minutes on the clock. Sampedro went close for the home side, as did Chanda for the team from the capital in the final moments of the first-half.

A showing of effort and strength to defend the lead with a player less

The second period started off in a similar vein to the first. Just after the break, the home side was awarded a penalty which captain Amanda Sampedro converted. Five minutes later, Martín-Prieto scored a screamer, a shot from outside of the box which nestled in the top-right corner. Yet the team would be made to suffer with Nazareth being shown a second yellow card in five minutes, meaning that Toro's team had to be more defensive-minded, with Ester Sullastres making several heroic stops in goal. The Argentine coach made replacements to freshen his side and the team from Madrid would cut the lead with Gabi Nunes scoring, but this would ultimately not affect the nature of the result.

With this result, the home side will welcome a rest week to refresh, before approaching their next fixtures with optimism. Their next fixture, at home once again, will be against Sporting Club de Huelva which will mark the start of the second half of the season, on Thursday 26 January
