Once againSevilla FC are a UEFA Champions League team. The team secured qualification thanks to En-Nesyri's late equaliser at the Wanda Metropolitano. That draw took the Blanquirrojos to 67 points, a tally which will take the team around Europe in the continent's elite competition. This will be the club's 26th season in European competition.

Also, Julen Lopetegui's side will be back in the UEFA Champions League for the third year in a row thanks to their league positiona feat which had never happened in the club's history. Last season saw the side level the club record of two, achieved in the 2008/09 and 2009/10 seasons, but the new record has now been set. Slowly but surelythis will help the team to establish themselves as a top-four regularan objective which has been mentioned frequently as the club seeks to grow both on and off the pitch.

This will be the club's ninth appearance in the UCL this century

In a season full of difficulties practically since the start of the season, Sevilla FC fought with classcourage and passion for a Champions League place that they had kept hold of for the entire season, with a particularly strong record at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, and lost just four of their 37 matches so far. Their consistency means that they will once again be in the Group Stage draw in August amongst Europe's elite clubs. In fact, Sevilla still have a chance to finish third in the league, provided that their result next week against Athletic Club is better than Atlético's result in San Sebastián.

This season's UCL qualification once again demonstrates the club's spectacular start to this centurySince the club's return to continental action in May 2004 with UEFA Cup qualification, after a seven-year absence, the club has qualified for Europe eighteen times in nineteen seasonsincluding ten in a row. This is the ninth time this century that the club has reached Europe's elite competition this season, the same number of times as the Europa League. That is a long way from the eight occasions that the club qualified for Europe in the whole of the 20th century: once for the European Cup, four for the UEFA Cup, twice for the Inter Cities Fairs Cup and once for the European Cup Winners' Cup.
