Tanguy Nianzou has described his transfer to Sevilla as a "good moment" for his career, and spoke about his silverware ambitions in his first interview as a Sevillista.

Our newest recruit, who arrives from Bayern Munich on a five-year deal, sat down with us to offer his thoughts on his move.

Speaking in English, the French defender started by telling us how pleased he is at the move's completion.

"I feel very good, I'm happy to be here. My family is here, I'm here now, we came here yesterday and the city is pretty good. I saw some fans at the hotel yesterday, I took some pictures, signed some autographs. I have to try to speak a little bit of Spanish and after that I'll be good."

Tanguy then spoke about what the transfer means for his career, and earmarked silverware as one of his goals at the club.

"For me it's a new step. I have to be good because for me it's a good occasion, a good moment to be here. I have to improve. I have to be better at football and it's a good moment for my career. It's a good step for me to be in Sevilla."

"I have to improve myself. I want to try to help the team to win a lot of trophies and a lot of points in the championship, and then we'll see what happens."

Nianzou then spoke about his surprise that Monchi spoke to him in French, before focusing on a compatriot in the form of Jules Koundé.

"What Monchi said to me is a bit of a secret, but it's a good project for me. And he talked with me in the French, it was good for me, it was a surprise, I didn't know he spoke French."

"I felt good when he spoke to me. He told me that maybe I'd get more minutes and I'm going to improve with the coach, he's a good guy, a good coach."

"Koundé is an example because at the beginning he wasn't in the French team, and now he's on the pitch and maybe he's going to the World Cup, he's one of my examples."

"I hope that I'm going to be an important player for Sevilla"

The Frenchman then confirmed his preferred position on the pitch, and what that means.

"I prefer to play in defence, I played in defence at PSG and Bayern, so it's my preferred position."

"I feel comfortable to make some decisions and to talk to my teammates. For me, as a defender, you have to speak with everyone because you see everyone on the pitch and you have to command someone."

"For me, I have to be a leader. I hope that I'm going to be an important player for Sevilla, but first of all I have to train, I have to be good at training, and after we'll see."

"I remember that Sevilla were really good in the Super Cup, there was a lot of pressure"

Nianzou then commented on the 2020 UEFA Super Cup Final, in which we were beaten by his employers at the time, Bayern, and his new teammate Bono.

"The game in 2020 was great because they won in the last minute when Javi Martínez scored, but Sevilla were really good, there was a lot of pressure, they were good with the ball. That's what's on my mind every time I remember Sevilla, they were really good tactically."

"When you have a good goalkeeper, it can be good because you have a lot of confidence. If you make a mistake, he can be there for you, he can talk to you. And when you have a great goalkeeper like him, that's really good."

"Being injured twice in Munich was really hard for me, but now we have to move on"

The 20-year old is moving to Spain at a young age, but he was even younger when he swapped Paris for Munich two years ago. He commented on the impact of that switch.

"Personally it was good. I was there with my family, but unfortunately I was injured twice. It was really hard for me, but now we have to move on. This is why I'm here."

Next up on the agenda was his level of Spanish, and what he is like off the pitch.

"I know some words in Spanish. Sometimes when I spoke to Lucas Hernández at Munich he taught me a little bit of Spanish so I know some words."

"Off the pitch I'm chill all the time with my family and friends. I'm a little bit shy with everyone else, but off the pitch I'm just myself. I can laugh and make jokes all the time, I'm really happy all the time."

"I know that Sevilla fans are crazy."

To finish, he sent a message to the Sevilla fans, and stated that he thinks he's ready to play.

"I know that Sevilla fans are crazy, really crazy. That's all I know. I hope we can have a really good time on and off the pitch and I think that this will be a great year for Sevilla."

"I think I'm ready to play, I just have to train now, but it's the coach's decision, not mine. I'm just going to train and we'll see what happens."
