Ocampos' penalty in the first half and Jordán's goal in the second sealed the win for Sevilla in Ipurúa

A professional, convincing, and deserved win for Sevilla FC this afternoon at the Municipal de Ipurúa Stadium, beating SD Eibar by two goals to nil. Ocampos scored from the penalty spot in the first half before Jordán rounded off the win in an excellent counter attack. The Blanquirrojos started strong and with the intention to take three points away from the Basque side. When the team got in front, Julen Lopetegui's men defended smartly to keep Eibar at bay, keeping yet another clean sheet and winning the twelfth game of the last fifteen played to consolidate the team in the Champions League spots.

The first thirty minutes went by with Sevilla FC in charge of the game and they would have their reward in the last quarter of the half. A goal down, Eibar started to mount more attacks and managed to force Sevilla into their box and could have well scored an equaliser. Lopetegui's team put themselves ahead through a penalty from Ocampos after En-Nesyri nipped in in front of a defender to steal the ball and was fouled in the action. The Argentine made no mistake, sending Dmitrovic the wrong way. Minutes before, VAR had overruled a penalty in favour of Sevilla FC after Dmitrovic had seemingly fouled En-Nesyri, but footage showed he won the ball before making contact with the striker.

The game did not start well for Sevilla, losing Marcos Acuña through an apparent hamstring injury minutes after the whistle. Eibar's game was completely focused down the left on Sevilla loanee Bryan Gil's wing. Bryan had a proper duel with Jesús Navas in the first half, looking to get past the right-back and on more than a few occasions he did, sending some dangerous crosses in. Just before the break, Diop and Kike García had chances to equalise, but Sevilla would go into the break with a one-goal advantage.

Mendilibar's men started the second half strongly in search of a goal, with Oliveira having the first shot of the half. Sevilla's second would come in a counter attack after they won the ball back and Ocampos did well to get out of the press. Suso picked up the ball from Ocampos and waited for Aleix Vidal's overlap. The right-back, who had replaced Navas at half-time, crossed it perfectly into Joan Jordán's path who managed to divert the ball past the 'keeper and score against his former club. Before the goal, Bryan worried Sevilla once more after winning the ball against Koundé and sending a shot just wide of Bono's left-hand post.

Sevilla managed the game perfectly when 2-0 up and wore Eibar down

The minutes went by and the home side began to fatigue due to Sevilla's work in possession, keeping the ball moving and denying Eibar the chance to get back into the game. Diego Carlos, back from COVID-19, came on for the last ten minutes. Expósito had a shot from range that went well over the bar. Bryan, still causing danger, dribbled the ball to the edge of the box and worked it to Pedro León, forcing Bono to fist the shot away. Time ran out for Eibar and Sevilla picked up three points that puts them third in the league on 39 points.
