Football has returned to the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. 104 days after the last league match of 2018/19 here against Athletic Club, when Sevilla ran out 2-0 winners and confirmed their place in Europe for another season, Sevilla are back at home tonight, Friday 30th August, after starting the season with two away games due to ongoing construction work at the stadium.

In the third matchday and after starting with two away wins in Barcelona and Granada, Sevilla welcome Celta de Vigo with the aim of gaining another three points and beginning the campaign with three straight victories, something which they haven't done since 2006. As of yet, Sevilla have managed to not concede in the opening two games, and in fact, they have only conceded two shots on target overall.

Sevilla, with Juande Ramos in charge, have not started with three straight league victories since 2006/07

Celta come to the Andalusian capital on good form, after playing well in the opening league game against Real Madrid, and then in their second match, they managed to win their first points of the season with a victory over Valencia. On their behalf, Celta have strengthened their squad over the summer: particularly at the top end of the pitch with the arrival of Santi Mina and the Uruguayan Gabriel Fernández, after losing Maxi Gómez to Valencia. Moreover, the ex-Sevilla player Denis Suárez has joined Celta in a bid to add more creativity to their team.

Sevilla FC have beaten Celta in their past three league visits to the Sánchez-Pizjuán

Statistically speaking, Celta have a good record against Sevilla in Nervión: however, in the last three league matches here, Sevilla have won each of them against Celta. In order to keep that record going, Julen Lopetegui's squad would have to do something they haven't done since 1986.

The coach from the Basque country said, in the press conference, that "today's rival will be different to the teams we have faced so far: they played well against Real Madrid and Valencia". Tonight there is extra excitement as Sevilla are playing in front of their home fans for the first time this season, and, in order to win, a great atmosphere will be needed to push the team over the line.

The game kicks off at 20.00 today, Friday 30th August, in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. The referee for the match is from the Madrid community - Carlos del Cerro Grande.
