The preview of...

Sevilla FC-RC Celta de Vigo in the 28th match week of LaLiga, which will kick off at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán at 21:00.

League position

Sevilla are thirteenth in the table on 31 points, four points clear from relegation. Celta are tenth, four points above Sevilla and just two off of seventh place. If Real Madrid are victorious in the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna, seventh place will qualify for the Conference League.

The last three matches between Sevilla FC-RC Celta

At the start of the 2019/20 season there was a draw at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, with Franco Vázquez and Denis Suárez both scoring in the final minutes of the game. The next season, Celta claimed a convincing 4-2 victory. In a chaotic first half, Kounde scored an early opener but Aspas and Nolito replied, before En-Nesyri levelled the scores. In the final five minutes, goals from Escudero and Munir meant that Celta took all three points. And in the last encounter, there was another draw as Cervi and Aspas scored in the first half, with Papu Gómez and Óliver Torres finding the net too.

Squads

22 players have been selected by José Luis Mendilibar for his first home match. Various players have returned to the squad, including Fernando after serving his suspension and Rekik, Marcao and Papu Gómez all overcoming their respective injuries. Ocampos is out after picking up his fifth yellow card, and Jordán and Tecatito are both injured. With regard to the away side, Carlos Carvalhal was unable to call upon Marchesín, Alves, full back Mingueza and winger Solari, all because of injury. Gabri Veiga, a revelation this season, also misses out because of suspension.

Referee

The man from the Madrid Committee will officiate the game today, Valentín Pizarro Gómez. He will referee Sevilla for the second game this season after we lost to Girona in Montilivi. In the matches he has refereed Sevilla, we have four victories, three draws and two losses. He officiated Celta's loss this season at the José Zorrilla de Valladolid (4-1), and the side has one win, two draws and five losses when Gómez has been the man in the middle.
