Standard Liege became the fourth European team to visit the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán this season. Just after the press conference, Michel Preud'homme and his team trained out on the pitch. The scorching heat, which is also expected during the match, was notable in a session which two key Standard players missed - Paul-José Mpoku and Samuel Bastien.

Preud'homme doesn't see any weakness in Sevilla after their recent results: 'We hear there's a tense atmosphere after the recent results, but it's like that at any club. In modern football, when there are minor problems everything goes very quickly. Sevilla is and continues being a European great and this competition proves that: When you win the Europa League five times, you deserve to form part of the European elite.' Despite these words, Preud'homme stated they will try to cause an upset: 'My players are motivated. If we lose people will see that as normal, but we're going to try to play our game and win.'

Guillermo Ochoa spoke before the manager, one of the few Standard players who know what it's like to play in the Sánchez-Pizjuán: 'We know it will be difficult. They are the favourites in the Europa League, but we have to do our job. The atmosphere here is much like the atmosphere at our pitch and it's one of the best atmospheres in Spain.' He states the high temperature 'will be felt by both teams and won't just disadvantage us' and he recalled his victory in Nervión as a Granada player: 'It wasn't easy, but we've seen that Getafe managed to win here on Sunday by being strong defensively and taking their chances. We don't play in the same way, but the key is to focus on the small details.'
