This Monday morning, in front of the club's cameras, José Castro presented his project to modernise the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios. The President made it clear that he wants this recent sustained growth of the club to continue and that, for him, first class facilities were necessary to make this possible:

Today we are presenting to you the Sevilla FC of the future. This new training ground that we are going to put into action reflects nothing less than the incomparable growth of our club. We are five time winners of the UEFA Europa League, we are the club with the third most European qualifications this century, and we also sit third on the list for most trophies won by a Spanish club this century. Now, we want these great achievements of the football club to be reflected in our facilities.

I wish to make it clear that we aren't presenting something that will happen, we are presenting something that is already happening. We know that our primary objective is success on the pitch. However, we also know that to improve on the pitch, we need to have first class facilties off it. This is the objective that, since 2015, we have been working towards and that is to reform the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán so that it is able to host the UEFA Europa League final in 2021.

The remarkable growth that this club has experienced since 2005 gives us an incentive to take this step forward and have a training centre fit for the future; and this is what we're going to do. Moreover, we are going to do it by using an investment that won't affect the money available to the first team. Sevilla FC has become one of the great clubs of the 21st century with its many sporting achievements, but we also need to have the best quality facilities in both our training centre, and in our stadium. We are as ambitious on the field as we are off it. I have always said that my objective as President, on top of success on the field, is to be remembered for the investment made off the field and the modernisation of the club's facilities.

My personal bid is to modernise our stadium and our training centre, and this is going to continue to be incomparable. On the field, we have a top quality Sevilla FC. Now, it is time for us to do the same off the field - have a first class training centre and stadium. Today marks a step further towards this objective. We are excited and convinced that the Sevilla FC of the future, that we are building, will continue to compete amongst the elite and achieve sporting success. We want more, we are ambitious and we want much more.
