After returning from the training camp in Lagos, Erik Lamela was presented at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán today. The Argentine showed his excitement ahead of his new challenge: 'I came here to try and give my best, to bring what I can to the team. I'll always focus on the team - they are the most important. The winger did not shy away from his desire to embark upon the Sevilla FC project: 'What most seduced me is the Club, the team that never surrenders and has won many titles over the last few years. I've been told very nice things about the city as well. It's a personal challenge to come here and show my best and give what I know I can give.' Erik also spoke about the team's objective to win silverware: 'I hope it happens, but we haven't even started in the league yet. We have a great squad and the plan is to go game by game. It's important to start well, the first matches are important. As time goes by we'll see where we're at. Our plan is to fight in all competitions. People know we have a good squad and we will make the most of that.'

Lamela spoke about how much he valued how the team welcomed him in Lagos, from his teammates to the coaching staff: 'They welcomed me in so warmly, my teammates as well as Club employees. I'm very really comfortable here and adapting quickly. It's good things have started off well.' Lamela brought about the competition in the squad: 'I'm well aware there's competition - I've had that all my life so this is nothing new. I will try and give my best while focusing on the team - that's the most important.

Lamela is coming to Sevilla in the best moment of his career: 'I'm at a stage now where I feel very mature, I think I'm at a good age. I'm better physically every day. I know that I'm going into the start of the season in great shape which is really important, that's why I'm working so hard every day.' An important factor in his arrival was the good reviews he had received from teammates: 'I've been told it's an incredible city and a proper club. I could see that in matches against them in past years. I spoke with my teammates and other Argentines - this Club has a good history with Argentine players. Historically it's been a desire to play here.'

Coming to La Liga is a new challenge for the Argentine: 'I wanted to play here but I'd never had the chance. It's a big motivation to play in Spain. When the chance came about I got really excited and straight away I wanted to come. Fortunately everything worked out - now it's up to me. We need to have a good year.' Asked once more about the competition in the squad, Lamela trusts in his ability to help the team: 'We'll see as time passes, the coach will make the call. I came here to help the team - that's the most important. You have to give your all everyday, wait for your opportunities and show what you can do on the pitch.'
