After being loaned out to Granada last season, the homegrown player has been one of the stars of pre-season.

Alejandro Pozo looked happy speaking to official media after taking part in pre-season with the team, having returned this summer after a loan move to Granada last season. "I'm very happy to be back, it's going well for me and I'm very happy with the opportunities that the manager is giving me, and benefitting from them. I'm enjoying every minute that the manager gives me, because I've got to give my all so that I can stay", says Pozo, confessing that it's one of his dreams: "Sevilla FC is my life, it's the team that I grew up in, and it would be great being able to play in LaLiga and having a spot in the first team, I'd be very proud".

And after that loan, Pozo is sure he's returned more mature: "It was difficult because I'd never left home before, but now I'm more mature and experienced, and I've come back more of a man, I know my qualities better and how I can benefit from them. So, I'm giving it my all here, and at the moment things are going well. After the loan, I've come here with a different mindset, it's made me learn".

And it's not taken him long to do so, after Lopetegui wanted to see him at right back, a position which, on the other hand, isn't new for him. "I will always give it my all wherever I'm played. He said he wanted to see me at right back and, where I can get minutes, I will take it, and I will give everything for the badge. I've played there a little bit, including last season, and I feel very good there. I have to improve defensively, but they're helping me. They all help me to close people down, to keep an eye on the flanks...like what Navas did, I'll keep learning and it will all be easier".

"It's a very good group, there are lots of young players who are hungry to achieve many great things here"

In fact, the academy graduate thought that “against Mainz I was very comfortable, my teammates gave me a lot of support. Diego was playing next to me, at centre back, and he communicated with me non-stop. Mainz is a very good team and I played quite comfortably. And also, I was able to get a goal”.

He also talked about his arrival in a very changed group: “I tend to be with the new signings, with Joan, Óliver… I'm practically a new player too, and we're nearly always together. There are many new players, but we're all here for the same reason, to compete and to give everything for the badge. It's a very good group and we're all as one. There are lots of young players who are hungry to achieve many great things here. And hopefully we can do that”.

"The manager's ideas are really getting through to us and we know that we have to show fight on the pitch"

Regarding the new manager's system, Pozo stated: “I like it, there are quality players in the middle of the pitch that move the ball a lot, it's great for us on the wings. There's a lot of possession, attacking… and things are going for us, we're winning matches and, also, we're playing well”. He's also surprised at the intensity that the manager demands when the team does not have the ball: “Yes, we always play as one from the first moment, the manager's ideas are really getting through to us and we know that we have to show fight on the pitch”.

His good work this summer is not going unnoticed by a fanbase like Sevilla FC's: “Yes, I see things and it makes me proud that they are behind me. I am a sevillista and the fact that they want me to stay… it's really big for me. I hope I can make them very happy this years. Sevilla FC has one of the best academies in Spain and, if we get any opportunities, any type of opportunity, we will take advantage of it”.

"I hope I can stay. I will give my all for the badge, I am a sevillista through-and-through and I hope I can triumph here"

And Pozo is sure he is one of them: “I will give everything I have and I hope I can stay, it would be a dream come true to play at Sánchez-Pizjuán, it would be fantastic.. I hope I can stay. I will give my all for the badge, I am a sevillista through-and-through and I hope I can triumph here”.
