Cuerpo Superior

Twelve years have passed since Antonio Puerta went from being a star on the pitch for Sevilla FC, to an eternal star, a legend. More than a decade has passed, but everyone connected to Sevilla FC have not stopped remembering the 'Zurda de Diamantes'. Just like every 28th August since his passing on this day 2007, he is remembered affectionately.

This afternoon, after the training session, and before going to the Cathedral for the floral offering at Virgen de los Reyes, the first team squad wanted to mark their respects to Antonio Puerta. Firstly, the captains: Jesús Navas, Daniel Carriço, Ever Banega and Sergio Escudero, accompanied by the club president, laid down a bouquet of flowers at the foot of Puerta's statue, which will welcome everyone who visits the training centre. Not long after, the whole first team squad and the staff paid their respects too.

Cuerpo Inferior

On 28th August 2007, 12 years ago today, Antonio Puerta passed away after suffering a heart attack three days beforehand during a match between Sevilla FC and Getafe CF. The death of Antonio Puerta, one of the most promising players inthe country and a vital part of the great Sevilla FC team that won five trophies in around 15 months, shook the Sevilla community and the world of sport within Spain to the core.

To remeber him, Sevilla FC organise an annual tournament  and have a football school, both in his name. Moreover, on Gate 16 of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, his image can be seen by the fans of Sevilla. In fact, on minute 16 of every home game, his name is sung throughout the stadium as a mark of respect.
