Former Sevilla captain Nico Pareja wanted to pay tribute to his teammate and friend Sergio Escudero at his farewell ceremony, after six seasons at the club. The Argentine, who was visibly moved at the event held in the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, dedicated these words to the full back:

Dear friend:

Like that day in 2018 when our positions at this table were different and I was saying goodbye to all of you, today it's your turn to say goodbye to your home, our home, the one that for six years saw you give your all every time you put on this beautiful shirt. It is a sad day, but I am convinced that it is not a goodbye, but a 'see you soon', and I am here to thank you for everything you have done for your team, for the clubfor those of us who were lucky enough to have shared a dressing room with you and above all for those of us who are lucky enough to be your friends. Thank you for being loyal, committed, humble, self-sacrificing, responsible and always prioritising the team over the individual. You are an example of a professional and players like you are the ones who make a club like Sevilla FC grow without limits. I'm sure your teammates will miss you, but your friends will miss you even more, those of us who have suffered with you in the difficult moments and enjoyed the most beautiful ones as if they were our own. The anecdotes of so many years, the finals, the titles, the trips, the Mario Kart beatings and the pocha, and the games in the rondos and all the memories that you will always remember.

"Players like you are the ones who make a club like Sevilla FC grow without limits"

But you have to be proud of everything you have done here and you have to know that you are taking with you a family that will always be cheering you on wherever you go, because you still have a lot of football left in those boots and there's no doubt that your legacy at this club will be unforgettableCAPTAIN. As a Sevillista and even more so as your friend I can assure you that we will miss you. Good luck wherever you go, brother!
