The Sevilla FC General Sporting Director, Ramón Rodríguez Verdejo, Monchi, responded to the media's questions after the unveiling of Óscar Rodríguez as a Blanquirrojo. Monchi began by showing his gratitude for the medal of the city of Sevilla that was bestowed on him yesterday: "When I received the call from the mayor telling me that my name would be proposed I was very proud and happy. I am not from Sevilla by birth but by adoption. To be given an award for something that is not sporting is a source of pride. I owe a lot to Sevilla, I've been here for 32 years and it will be a prize that I will be proud to collect and that I will share with Sevilla FC, which has served as a springboard for me to achieve it".

Now focused on sporting matters, the General Sporting Director stated that "Sevilla to date has not made a move for Marcos Alonso. About Acuña, I already said that it was within the parameters we were looking at, but without any move. I have not made any offer to contact Sporting or its agent, so nothing has become complicated. As for Reguilón, we already said that we would love to have him here, but it is somewhat complicated because there are many strong rivals economically against whom it is very difficult to fight. We have to put our feet on the ground a little bit when talking about figures. We are economically stable, but we have all been affected. We are making timely efforts, and without scrimping on efforts to improve the squad".

"We are trying to shape the squad we had in mind to take another step"

"Our business model has always been based on generating capital gains in order to have a squad with a cost well above the income. This year there have been no such sales, but we are working with that handicap, but we already have a team with a base and they are armed. We know that we have to go with our feet on the ground, we are the team that has invested the second-most and in the difference between sales and purchases we're first. We are trying to shape the squad we had in mind to take another step", continued Monchi.

The General Sporting Director also stated that "the squad is not finished, there's 27 days left of the transfer window and there are moves that are being made to bring in some playersI don't like to talk about positions, I prefer to work in secret. Regarding Carlos Fernández, there's been a lot of interest, but for the moment he's training with us and I want him to be focused on Sevilla. If there's something at any momentwe'll study and look at itas with any other player. I see him as excited to be able to be at Julen Lopetegui's service".

"All players have to prove to the Mister that they can be part of an exciting and demanding project"

Monchi finished by speaking about three playersGnagnonPozo and Bryan: "It will depend on him, on Joris himself, to be able to convince the coach, that is our intention, of course. Both Pozo and Bryan fulfilled the anticipated path, that of leaving on loan to continue growing and today they're training like the rest of their teammates, as another player. All players have to prove to the Mister that they can be part of an exciting and demanding project. For our part, hopefully, because they have grown up with us and we are very fond of them".
