2-1: SEVILLA FC THROW AWAY THREE POINTS LATE ON IN VIGO

En-Nesyri gave Sevilla the lead before Aspas and Pione Sisto scored late on to secure all three points for Celta

Sevilla FC somehow contrived to throw away all three points at Balaídos on Sunday evening. After taking the lead in the first-half through En-Nesyri, Ocampos had the chance to kill the game off, but he was unable to do so and Celta came from behind to win. Aspas and Pione Sisto then scored inside the last fifteen minutes, which left the Nervionenses shocked, who had controlled the game up until that point. Lopetegui's men now find themselves outside the top 4 for the first time in 2020.

Iago Aspas had a golden opportunity to give Celta the lead inside five minutes, but fired over the bar after getting the better of Diego Carlos. Sevilla then began to attack, with En-Nesyri having two chances in as many minutes; one saved, the other deflected for a corner. After fifteen minutes, the home side began to take control of the game and set the rhythm, while Sevilla defended well and tried to break on the counter attack.

The opening goal followed soon afterwards. Olaza had the ball in his own half, but his pass back to the goalkeeper was careless; En-Nesyri took full advantage of this, going one-on-one with Rubén Blanco and chipped the keeper with consummate ease. 23 minutes gone, and Sevilla were in front thanks to a gift. The game began to open up at this point, with mistakes from both sides in the middle of the park allowing the other side to counter. Celta again tested Vaclík with a shot from Rafinha, but it was Sevilla who would have the best chance to score just before the half-time whistle, as Ocampos went clean through on goal, but Rubén Blanco kept his shot out.

Sevilla FC began the second half with strength and went out looking for a second goal. Suso whipped in a cross for En-Nesyri, but his chance went over the bar. The high pressure from the Blanquirrojos was causing real problems for Celta, who were in need of a goal, but half-time substitute Pione Sisto forced Vaclík into action with a powerful effort. Lopetegui made changes, bringing on Banega for a tired Suso. Vaclík also had to deny Rafinha's shot from distance.

However, all the hard work in the first 75 minutes would go to waste. Julen Lopetegui's men were unable to get a second goal to kill the match off, and Celta would take full advantage. Rafinha released Iago Aspas with a sublime ball, and this time he would get the better of Vaclík, rounding him before rolling the ball home. The disappointment did not end there. Far from responding to the setback and looking for a winner, a bad clearance from Vaclík allowed another counter attack, which ended up with Pione Sisto firing in a winner off the post in injury time. The result sees Sevilla slide out of the Champions League qualification places, and are now in fifth place with 39 points.
