Sevilla FC finally picked up their first home league win of the season, running out 2-1 winners over Getafe CF.

The team were dominant in the first half and deservedly led at the interval thanks to a Marcos Acuña header. Despite Getafe creating more chances in the second half, Bono pulled off some quality saves to stop the visitors from equalising.

Rafa Mir would then double our lead with ten minutes of normal time remaining, but Borja Mayoral's 87th minute goal set up a tense finale. However, Sevilla held on and picked up three vital points.

The first half saw us take full control with a number of shots and set pieces, including one near-post header from Jordán which drew a top save from David Soria, who needed to tip the ball onto the post to keep out the shot.

The team were rewarded with the opening goal late on in the half. Rakitic's free-kick from the left wing was flicked on at the near post by Acuña, who found the far corner.

Unal had Getafe's only chance of the half, heading wide from a free kick just before the interval.

The second half, naturally, was an entirely different affair. The visitors had to come out on the front foot and did exactly that, unsettling Sevilla but without calling Bono into action.

When Borja Mayoral had Getafe's best chance of the clash after a mistake by Nianzou, Sampaoli made his first change, bringing on Badé for his debut. That saw Fernando move into midfield, and a few minutes later the coach would make more changes, with Rakitic and Lamela being replaced by Suso and Rafa Mir.

Rafa Mir's header back across goal gave us a two-goal cushion

It was the latter of the two who would make a near-instant impact with our second goal, but, just minutes before, Bono pulled off a remarkable save to deny a vicious effort from Iglesias.

At Sevilla's next attack, Navas would release Óliver Torres down the right-hand side. The midfielder crossed to an unmarked Rafa Mir, who made no mistake with his header.

Despite the two-goal lead, Borja Mayoral converted from Portu's cross in the 87th minute to set up a tense finale. However, the visitors could not create any further chances and Sevilla held on for the first home league win of the season.

Next week, Sevilla travel to Montilivi to face Girona in MD17, with kick-off scheduled for 16:15 CET on Saturday 14th January.
