Sevilla FC got their tenth successive win at home this Sunday and the manager, Pablo Machín, was 'happy and satisfied' despite confessing that 'there will be a defeat at some point but, I hope that it's a long way away. Beyond the numbers, which are very solid and convincing, the feeling is that the team always wants to win, and being helped by such great fans for whom we give everything, means that there's a real togetherness and a special atmosphere. All that gives us an added sense of security, and we know that in moments of weakness, the people are going to be with us, which makes us a stronger team.'

That was exactly what happened this Sunday, where the fans gave that extra push to a team that was tired from their exploits on Thursday: 'Girona came to play with high intensity, they tried to wear us down and take advantage of their superiority in terms of freshness. They were very good in the first half, they pressed a lot and they had some good chances, but Tomas helped us out on those occasions. In the second half, we were definitely the better side. After that second goal the game opened up a lot more and there could have been more.'

'We can feel good about having done good work at home. The fans can go home happy and that's what we want, to go home happy and to finish 2018 with a win. To do that we have to make the most of this week, recover the best we can because our next opponents are very tough,' he added.

A match in which they will be without Banega and Sarabia: 'Everyone knows who will replace them. We'll have Franco Vázquez back and for midfielders... we have what we have, it'll be logical to say that we'll bring in another midfielder.'

When asked about Kjaer in the press room, the manager commented that he has 'some discomfort, a small tear, according to the player himself' in the left hamstring. 'We'll have to wait on the next few medical tests,' he added.
