The long-awaited first press conference of new Sevilla FC coach, Pablo Machín, took place this Wednesday afternoon in the press room of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. The new manager made two things clear: his familiarity with the Club he joins and the importance of hard work in hitting the ground running: "I feel flattered that Sevilla have chosen me. From the first moment it was very easy and I'm very excited and humbled because I know the club I come to - the fans it has, it's history, the demands. I come with a huge amount of enthusiasm to soak up Sevillismo and start as soon as possible to have a hopefully historic season", he started.

"I'm convinced that I come prepared and with the responsibility of putting the Club where it belongs"

He continued: "I'm convinced I come prepared. In football we know that things don't just depend on one but many circumstances. But these opportunities come once in a lifetime. It's certain that I've done well until now - I've fulfilled objectives that have been asked of me, sometimes overachieved. I know the club I'm coming to and I have the responsibility of putting Sevilla FC where it belongs".

He assured the press that no one needed to remind him: "what the demands of the Club are. I know perfectly well where I'm coming to and I'm very clear about my objective which is to win - from the first match to the last - as many times as possible. I come to a great club and every great club has a great squad. From there, we'll work with the technical team so they can tell me about the situation of every player. I know every player, so from there, the important thing is to build a good team. They need to know what we're playing for and what we can win. We want everyone to feel proud of a team that leaves everything on the field. More important than tactical systems are philosophies. That needs to be known. You need to know that I don't get blinded by playing a certain way, I am open to change. It's my job and the most intelligent way to get the best performances out of the squad. It's the best way to win and it's the best way to make Sevillistas proud".

"My job is to get the best performances out of the squad so Sevillistas can feel proud of their team"

In fact, he added that he would not forget about the promising youngsters in the academy: "I have one thing very clear. Although the reserves, unfortunately, got relegated, there are good players and we can make the most of them. We have a lot of competitions and there's talent there. Between us all we're going to form a good block and I hope we have a historic year - that's my intention".

He won't forget the Club's own familiar faces either: "At no point are we going to leave people of Sevilla to one side. I know the importance of transmitting the Club's values to the new coaching staff. The demands are extremely high from the first moment and to perform from the first moment, you have to surround yourself with those people".
