Sevilla FC and Schalke 04 have reached an agreement for the loan - with an option to buy - of Johannes Geis. The German centre-midfielder arrives at the Nervión club having played 61 matches in the two seasons he has spent with Gelsenkirchen, scoring five goals and making eight assists in the process.

Geis, a right footed centre-midfielder known for his collected use of the ball, broke into the Bundesliga after debuting for Mainz in 13/14 at barely 20 years old. He played for two years in the Coface Arena side, being a permanent fixture - to the point where he played 67 of the 68 league matches his team played in the 13/14 and 14/15 seasons.

His crucial role in Mainz - 71 matches, 6 goals and 12 assists - spurred his transfer to Schalke in the summer of 2015, where once again he was crucial until the second half of last season. Despite having just turned 24, he has played 121 Bundesliga matches in his four seasons in the German elite.

Geis will join Eduardo Berizzo's side in training next week. He will wear the number 12 shirt and will be picked for the Champions League squad.
