After the closing of the transfer market a few weeks ago and with the return of the international players from their national teams, Sevilla have announced who their captains in the 18/19 season will be. Jesús Navas, Carriço, Escudero, Mercado and Banega are the five players tasked with wearing the captain's armband, with Navas the first choice.

Jesús Navas, the player who has worn Sevilla's colours the most times, has played 443 games in the twelve seasons, including the current one, that he has spent at the club, which makes him an important symbol in the dressing room. The next in line will be Daniel Carriço, who is playing his sixth season at Sevilla with 122 games and who, undoubtedly, is another reference in the dressing room.

Each captain, other than Mercado, have played more than 100 games and have won silverware with Sevilla

Sergio Escudero and Gabriel Mercado, both injured at the moment, have also been selected to wear the captain's armband when necessary. With 116 and 88 matches respectively, the Spaniard and Argentine have very quickly become important figures in the team.

The fifth-choice captain will be Éver Banega. The Argentine, who is in his second spell in Nervión and has notched up 153 matches, earns his stripes and shows his leadership by being the team's driving force in midfield. Each captain, other than Mercado, has played more than 100 matches and has won silverware with Sevilla before, which demonstrates that the desire to defend the red and white of Sevilla is more than guaranteed.
