There are few comparisons that can be made with Youssef En-Nesyri's numbers this season, as the Moroccan international is in spectacular form. He scored his second consecutive hat-trick in Nervión yesterday in a 3-0 win against Cádiz CF, and only VAR denied him a fourth against the Yellow Submarine. In terms of statistics, these figures are not going unnoticed, as the current leading goalscorer in LaLiga Santander could break records if he maintains his very good run of form.

Today marks exactly four months since the opening game of the 2020/21 season, which saw the Nervionenses travel to Budapest to face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Super CupThe ex-Leganés striker could have become a hero that day, but Manuel Neuer made a crucial save to deny Youssef. The cameras showed a distraught En-Nesyri after the match, which ended in a 2-1 win for the Bavarians, and you could see his teammatesLopetegui and even Monchi trying to console the young striker

He could have become a hero on 24th September in Budapest, but Neuer denied him

Turning points are often talked about in football, but if there is a clear example of one, then it is the one that the Sevilla striker has had, as he has demonstrated his mental strength to turn it around and become the league's top goalscorer at the halfway stage of the season. In his first eight matches, he only scored one goal, albeit a crucial one, a stoppage-time winner at home to Levante. Since then, he has scored 15 goals in 19 matches across three competitions, with much to be said about his league form.

He has scored 15 goals in his last 19 matches in all competitions

En-Nesyri's numbers this season, compared to Sevilla's top goalscorers in the last decade, are eye-catching. At the halfway stage of the seasonhe has already beaten Ben Yedder's league goals in 2016/17 and 2017/18. In those seasons, the Monaco striker reached 11 and 9 goals respectively, while En-Nesyri has already reached 12. His next aim is to overtake the 14 goals scored by Ocampos last season, Gameiro in 2013/14 and Negredo in 2011/12.

Gameiro scored 16 in the 2015/16 season, two less than Ben Yedder in his most fruitful season in LaLiga, which came in 2018/19. Bacca hit the 20-goal mark back in 2014/15, while the record for LaLiga goals in a season in the last decade was set by one of yesterday's opponents, Negredo, who scored a stunning 25 goals in the 2012/13 season. Of course, we have to remember that En-Nesyri has half a season to try to finish as high as possible on this list
