It's official. Sevilla FC will play in Europe's elite competition next season. The result of tonight's match between Villarreal CF and Real Sociedad tonight, as well as yesterday's crucial win against RCD Mallorca at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuánnow means that a top-four finish this season is mathematically certainwith two matches to spare, meaning that Sevilla FC will be in the draw for next season's UEFA Champions League Group Stage.

The Blanquirrojos have returned in excellent form after the lockdownpicking up 19 points from 9 matches, in addition to the points picked up before the pandemic, to brilliantly cap off the season by securing a top-four finish. Only Villarreal, who have run out of options after failing to win against Real Sociedad, were capable of keeping up with Julen Lopetegui's Sevilla and their red-hot form since competitive action resumed

So, this is the seventh time in fourteen seasons that Sevilla FC have qualified for the Champions Leagueafter doing so in 2007/082009/102010/112015/162016/17 and 2017/18, reaching the quarter finals in their most recent appearance, where they were defeated by Bayern Munich. In addition to their only other qualification, which came in the old European Cup in 1957/58, Sevilla FC will be competing amongst Europe's elite for the eighth time next season.
