Diego Carlos spoke to official Sevilla FC media on Saturday, mentioning the lockdown, his happiness upon returning to training, and the expectations ahead of the first game back, which is the derby: "It went very well, with my family, doing work with the coaches, which has been noticed a lot. Now on the way back and I was much more prepared, all of us are stronger for returning to the pitch. It's a different task, the difference between working at home and on the pitch is big, but we're returning with time before the first match".

Diego Carlos is happy with the deescalation and being able to train in larger groups: "Now, little by little, everything is becoming more normal, we're working in groups, although we're lacking many places to have eleven against eleven, but it's very good returning to what we did beforehand. There's always something missing, but we've had a few weeks working and now everything is much better and we're ready for the league's return. We've got time to improve a lot more".

"Being like a family helps us a lot on the pitch"

A return for the squad, whose unity continues to be key: "It's important to have a team like a family, because it helps us on the pitch. This unity that we always have, it helps us a lot in matches".

For the centre half, another key point is avoiding injuries: "Now it's important to think about training, recover as much as possible and avoid injuries. Being as careful as you can to play again, there was too much time in lockdown and, little by little, we want to return as much as possible".

"We have to be very focused to play well in the derby"

Even more so when the first match is the derby: "With or without fans, it's a special match. We'll be sad because we won't have our fans with us, but I'm sure we'll play well.We have to be very focused and work well in the build-up to be ready".

Always step by step, match by match. For the moment, he does not want to focus on Europe: "We're thinking about it, but now the league returning is more important. Then afterwards we have the Europa League, but we've got a long time left until then. Now we have a big match ahead of us".

To finish, a wish for such a strange year: "We want to reach our aims and finish as high as possible for Sevilla".
