Sevilla FC and Philips Lighting, a world leader in their field, have reached an agreement to transform the lighting of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium. The company will install new LED lighting so that the pitch meets all television broadcasting requirements, including those for UDHTV. The colourful automated floodlights that will be put in place will be able to work together with the pitch lighting, music and the perimeter to create incredible spectacles prior to matches. All of this will improve the supporters´ experience and strengthen the allure of the stadium to host other events.

The lighting will be completed for the start of the season with the installation of the ArenaVision system, which includes 360 Philips ArenaVision LED gen 2 floodlights and 8 automated Philips Vari-Lite VL6000 floodlights for entertainment lighting, operated by a digital system. The lighting for the pitch will be of the highest quality, complying with the latest standards for Ultra High Definition TV, so that TV viewers will be able to appreciate every detail of the players and watch slow motion replays in high definition.

This new LED technology provides clubs with the ability to adjust lighting instantaneously -unlike conventional lighting systems which take time to warm up- and to customise it for different purposes, which range from illuminating certain parts of the pitch during training, to creating light shows or adapting it for concerts. The system can also be operated remotely.

Castro: "The step we are taking in relation to where we were before is enormous"

Club President José Castro, who appeared accompanied by facility manager Santiago Balbontín, stated about the agreement that "we are taking a step further in our clear commitment to transform the Sánchez-Pizjuán into a top European stadium. In 2015 we said that we were going to support this stadium and we were referring to agreements like this one. Now we will meet the broadcasting demands and requirements demands with absolute guarantee. The step we are taking is enormous and Sevilla welcomes this major agreement which will continue to transform the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán into a 21st century stadium.

On his part, Josep Martínez, president of Philips Lighting in Spain and Portugal, recognised that "football involves competition, emotions and spectacle and lighting can enhance all of these. Our technology is present in more than half of the world´s stadiums and over 80% in Spain. The array of LED technology that will be installed here can only be found at a select number of clubs, such as Ajax or Juventus. We are very proud to be able to announce this partnership with Sevilla FC".
