Nico Pareja's pelvic bone has said "enough" and doctor's have advised surgery to solve the niggling pains that appeared for the first time last February and worsened (beyond the point of conservative treatment) this September. The centre-back and Sevilla captain will undergo surgery for the pain tomorrow. The operation will take place in the Quirón clinic in Barcelona, and will be held by doctor Cugat. Sevilla club doctor Julio Llamas will also be in attendance. Cugat himself advised the surgery, after reviewing the players condition and going over previous problems. Naturally, the surgery will mean Pareja will be injured for several weeks.

Pareja started to feel a pain in the region last February, though he was able to see out the season. In summer, after carrying out individual recovery work the pains subsided. The centre-back insisted on being able to compete in the playoffs of the Champions League and the start of the league season.

Unfortunately, the injury reared its head with more force once again during the match against Getafe, where Pareja was substituted at half time. Since then he has trained lightly with a view to recover (as he did last week during the international break) but with the desired recovery not achieved, an operation was deemed the most sensible course of action.
