Nico Pareja, Daniel Carriço, Sergio Escudero and Gabriel Mercado will be Sevilla FC´s captains for the 17/18 season. Pareja and Carriço, now both in their fifth campaign in Nervión, keep their responsibilites, while Escudero and Mercado take up captaincy for the first time.

Nico Pareja and Carriço arrived at Sevilla FC in the summer of 2013 and since then have both played 111 matches with the Nervión team, even though both have lost first-team opportunities owing to injury - with Pareja injured in the 15/16 season and Carriço injured in the 16/17 season. Moreover, the two centre-backs have both won three UEFA Europa League titles.

Sergio Escudero, meanwhile, joined Sevilla FC in the summer of 2015 and after competing for the place of Tremoulinas in his first season, has made the left-back position his own. He has played 66 matches and won one Europa League title with the Nervión club.

Finally, Gabriel Mercado arrived in Nervión last summer, being a permanent fixture for Jorge Sampaoli both as a centre-back and a right-back - a role he is now filling more frequently by the orders of Eduardo Berizzo. Mercado has played 41 matches and has scored three goals , all of which have been decisive and two of which have been in derbies
